Expedition Cancelled… Good Luck!

The 2012 Inspire South Pole Project has been cancelled due to a lack of funding.

We had a good idea, a good team and a good time over the months and years working on getting this project off the ground but we didn’t secure the funding necessary for a South Pole expedition.

And since it was timed to coincide with the London 2012 Olympic Games, it is not something that we can delay a year in the hope of being ready for the next Antarctic expedition season.

My warmest thanks to all of those who helped us along the way.

To Jamie, whose idea this whole thing was. To Rosie, for being the first person to listen to us properly and believe in our idea. To Marc, for your commitment and enthusiasm from start to finish. To Declan and to Derek, two people with whom it is impossible to be in the same room and not get fired up about life.

To all of those who showed an interest and willing to get involved: Anna Hemmings, Dean Macey, Euan Dale, Alex Hitchings (and Iain and Jane Chalmers!), Laura Beaumont.

Thank you to Special Olympics Great Britain and, in particularly, Karen Wallin, Clarisse Roubert and Jane Silverman for helping with so much.

And no doubt there are dozens more that I have neglected to acknowledge.

Finally, I would like to say ‘Good Luck!’ to all the other expeditions down in Antarctica this season and an even bigger ‘GOOD LUCK!’ to all of those competing in next year’s games (particularly if you’re British).

Many thanks,

Tim Moss.
