The runner I’ve been talking has just agreed to sign up as our Olympian. Please give a warm welcome to Mr Derek Redmond.
Derek, as you may well know, was an extremely good 400-metre sprinter with World, European and Commonwealth Gold medals under his belt. He is also well known for the Barcelona 1992 semi-final where he famously snapped his hamstring. He then struggled to his feet and hobbled to the finish line in one of the most enduring scenes of the modern Olympics.
